Black Roses
Open office to engage the public.
This one was all about bringing people together to strategize their move forward. Overlooking the City Hall plaza and Main Street pedestrian thoroughfare, the L-shaped space is all concrete and glass. We determined that project success depended on moving through the space fluidly without hallways. Every part of the minimal program needed to open up, or even join, its adjacent space to pull it off…an event space, a creative/marketing design studio, and the conference room. Exception? The Founders Room—a speakeasy of sorts where the four partners could collaborate and enjoy.
We played off the bold company name to create black rose petals floating through from the entry, around a harsh corner, and through to the conference room. The lighting boldly flows through the petals like stems, reaching out of the glass curtain wall outlining the suite.
The black rose petal “clouds” balance grit and beauty. The conference room bravely exposes the work occurring inside through glass on two sides. Throughout the the space you’re exposed to the true nature of building materials through the concrete floors, concrete masonry walls, and exposed mechanical systems. And to reflect the love, the space opens up and exposes itself to the surrounding glass line and public outside. Come and see what’s going on inside, and when the dialogue is vibrant there is no way to forget about the community just outside.
