A Collective Resonance

Many voices, one calling.

The Sound will soon have a new home in the two-story historic structure located at East Fourth Street and French Street in downtown Santa Ana. The Historic Resources Commission has approved our preservation plan for the exterior facade on both street frontages, and we’ve successfully managed the necessary change of use process on their behalf.

The building has a history of mixed uses since its original construction in 1922, and the new spaces will carry on that tradition with a compilation of retail, event, and office spaces. The ground floor retail will be filled with startups established by The Sound’s business incubator, with a primary goal to give back generously to the community. The second floor office space will be accompanied by a recording studio, and a landscaped roof garden is a luxurious/surprising amenity for visitors to The Sound.

Our design goals are to apply restorative design measures to the historic facades and amplify the interior mix spaces for both visitors to the building and for its day to day occupants. We’re organizing all of the uses around a central core that will reinforce the building's users to focus outward to the community.
